Niche named the Eanes Independent School District the second best district in the nation, based on comparisons of over 10,000 school districts. Factors weighed for the 2016 Best School Districts in America list included academics, teachers, extracurricular activities, sports, and parent/student surveys, among others. Academics were ranked the heaviest, at 50% of the total score.

Eanes ISD spans 31.2 miles in Travis County, serving students in West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, and a small area of Austin. The district has 11 schools – six elementary schools (grades K-5), two middle schools (grades 6-8), and one high school (grades 9-12,) serving approximately 8,000 students total.
The district and all of its campuses “Met Standard” for 2014-2015, the highest rating provided by the Texas Education Agency. According to the Eanes website, in recent years, approximately 99% of Eanes graduates have enrolled directly in college. Thirty eight percent of the teachers in Eanes hold a master’s degree or higher, and more than half of the teachers average over 11 years of teaching experience.
The Highland Park Independent School District was the only other Texas school district to make the top 10, coming in at number six.
