The Backyard Set for Major Redevelopment

A $250 million redevelopment of The Backyard performance venue is underway behind the scenes, according to an Austin Business Journal update on the development. Located off of Bee Cave Parkway, between Highway 71 and Highway 620, The Backyard eventually will be home to two performance venues, a boutique hotel, a restaurant, luxury residential condominiums, and office space.

The 50-acre project is expected to take up to five years for complete build-out, with groundbreaking soon, although some of the more public features are expected to be available by the end of 2017.

One of the performance stages will host national acts for crowds of 3,000 plus spectators; the other stage will host smaller and local acts.

The 125-room hotel will be called “The Nelson,” after iconic Austin musician Willie Nelson. The hotel will have a private entrance for tour buses and will feature a giant screen that showcases live music performances.

Bloom will be a 10,000 square foot farm-to-table restaurant that features several levels, views, and even an apiary to help bring the famed “Bee Cave” bees back to the area.

The luxury condo development is said to be named “Ethan’s View at The Backyard.”
