The Westlake Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for three positions for its Board of Directors. The directorships will be voted on November 9, 2016 following recommendations from the Nominating Committee, and those selected will serve three-year terms from January 2017 through December 31, 2019.
According to its website, the Chamber represents businesses of varying sizes, demographics, and locations and serving on the board is an “opportunity to engage at a higher level and be part of charting the course for excellence in your Chamber.” It describes the positions as “hands on” and the board as a “working board,” with meetings within the Westlake area on the second Wednesday of each month, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Those interested can download an application and return a completed copy to the Westlake Chamber office, either in person or by email to info@westlakechamber.com by close on business on Friday, October 28. The Nominating Committee, made up of five at-large Chamber members, will choose six individuals to recommend to the Board of Directors for the November 9th vote. Three will be selected as the new directors.
The Westlake Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1995 when community members voted to form an organization in response to explosive growth, along with new issues and challenges, occurring in West Lake Hills and Rollingwood. The Chamber ultimately formed from that vote as a “platform where businesses could address issues of safety, crime, and economic growth, and most importantly to foster a sense of community and camaraderie.”
