Rollingwood Women’s Club 5K Fun Run

The Rollingwood Women’s Club is sponsoring a 5K Fun Run, Life Is Good in the Wood, on April 28, 2017 at 6 p.m. at Rollingwood Park. Online registration is open until April 23 for the annual event, which had over 350 participants in 2016. The run “is always a huge success in its goal to emphasize fun, fitness, family and friends,” according to event materials.

Funds raised from the 5K run support the development of Rollingwood parks and public areas – “from the wonderful community garden to the playscapes, walking trails, work out stations and our very own Community Education Garden complete with a food forest!”

Registering by April 17 will guarantee a goodie bag and event t-shirt. There will be activities for kids and adults, as well as live music, and race participants also can pre-order a meal from P. Terry’s for after the run. The family friendly event is a foot race held “under the great oak trees at our beloved Rollingwood Park,” and participants may run with strollers. The 5k even offers a category winner for the fastest runner with a stroller! Changes to this year’s race include a reversal of the route, more food options, and no bikes or scooters. Leashed dogs are welcome.

Not interested in running? Volunteers are needed for the event. Sponsorships also are available for local businesses and service providers, with sponsorship levels ranging from $100 to $1,000. Visit lifeisgoodinthewood5k.com for more information, or visit Rollingwood City Hall to pick up a registration form.

The Rollingwood Women’s Club is open to all women in Rollingwood and was founded in 1958 to “promote the welfare of residents, to encourage beautification of the City, and to work with the Mayor and City Council on projects benefiting the community.” Visit the Rollingwood Women’s Club website for more information on the organization.
