Westlake High School Entrepreneurs Compete at Shark Tank Pitch Night

Shark Tank Night

The Eanes Independent School District Westlake Incubator Program is hosting a “Shark Tank” Pitch night for Westlake High School students on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Westlake Community Performing Arts Center on Westbank Drive.

The free and public event will feature over 150 students in the inaugural “Incubatoredu” class, an entrepreneurial class designed to be a rigorous introduction to the Lean Startup method. Throughout this school year, teams from the class have been testing their business concepts, and this pitch night will be the one that determines which students will receive funding for their ideas.

The event will be hosted by Capital Factory’s Josh Baer and Eanes ISD Superintendent Dr. Tom Leonard.

Here is the schedule for Shark Tank Pitch Night:

6 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Attendees can view the Wild Card teams and vote for one to have the chance to present their ideas to the investors.

7 p.m. to 9 p.m.: The top four pre-selected teams, as well as the top Wild Card team, will present their concepts as pitches to professional investors, Shark Tank-style. The students will compete for funding and for the opportunity to enroll in the next fall’s Incubator Accelerator class in which they will start their business.

Investors and business leaders who would like to fund a student team live during the competition can contact Kim Allen at kjoyallen@gmail.com to pre-register for a Live Bidding App.
