WalletHub ranked Austin, Texas the fourth best city to start a career in 2022, the same ranking it earned in 2021. Salt Lake City was tops in the United States among metros, followed by Orlando and Atlanta. Seattle came in fifth.
Austin’s quality of life was third in the nation, and it had the third highest monthly average salary when adjusted for cost of living. Fort Worth came in fifth for highest monthly average salary when adjusted for cost of living. Austin’s professional opportunities ranked eighth in the nation.
The rankings were based on 27 metrics, including the availability of entry-level jobs, monthly average starting salary, housing affordability, and quality of life. The rankings were designed “to help recent college graduates find the best cradles for their budding careers.”
